GARY THOWNEY
Im Gary Thowney, I’m 22 years old and I attended
Independently in August 2005.Every day I am learning how
to live independently and to think for myself, I have came a long way since
staying here facing new challenges and carrying them out to
the best of my ability.

This
is me in my physio session standing up in a frame also in this picture is my
physiotherapist and my facilitator. I have come along way in standing in my
frame as you can see the difference in my pictures, the one where I am outside
is the most recent one. I am standing a lot taller now keeping my back straight
without using the straps on the frame. I have physio twice a week to help me
relax so my muscles are not as tight as I move about a lot. As you can see in
my pictures I am getting out of my wheelchair a lot more its nice to stand up
for a while. In our physio room we have a physio bed where I do stretches and I
sit up on my own on it. I try to sit up every week as I get better the more
times I do it, at the moment I can sit up for over a minute on my own.

This is me in my bedroom, once I got settled in here
I decided to decorate my bedroom with the help of everybody in the bungalow. I
took all my wallpaper of and decided to paint the beach on my walls and the sky
on my ceiling. I chose a blue carpet so I would feel like I was swimming in the
sea. I have plenty of pictures on my walls which my aunty bought me. In my room
I also have my own P.C. which I brought from home and a T.V., which I like too
watch deal or no deal on, me and Sammy my facilitator play Sims together on my
computer in my free time in my bedroom.
